YOGA & POTTERY: FINDING YOUR CENTER

Having a ceramicist for a husband has given me a firsthand appreciation of the natural connection between yoga and pottery. I’ve also seen how hours at the wheel can take a toll on the body!

At their core, both yoga and pottery are meditative practices that require patience, presence, and the art of centering—whether it’s grounding yourself in a pose or steadying a lump of clay on the wheel. Each requires a keen sense of balance and the ability to adapt in real time, adjusting and refining as you shape something with intention. Both also teach us to embrace imperfection, trusting in the process rather than fixating on the outcome.

Yoga & Pottery: Finding Your Center, is a workshop designed to help potters develop greater physical awareness, release tension, and refine focus—allowing them to feel more at ease before sitting down at the wheel and find relief after hours of shaping and molding clay. Pottery is a practice of patience and endurance, but it also places strain on the back, neck, shoulders, wrists, and hands. This workshop introduces yoga techniques tailored to counterbalance these common stress points, promoting longevity and comfort in your craft. Want to learn more? Let’s connect!

YOGA & FLY FISHING: FINDING YOUR FLOW

Spending time along the Willowemoc has given me a deep appreciation for the natural rhythm of fly fishing—the patience, the precision, and the way it invites a sense of presence. Like yoga, fly fishing is an art of coordination and awareness, requiring a blend of stability, focus, and adaptability. Whether you're casting into the river or stepping onto the mat, both practices teach us to move with intention, adjust in the moment, and find harmony between effort and ease.

This workshop is designed to support anglers in developing body awareness, reducing tension, and improving mobility—helping them move with greater efficiency and comfort. Long hours on the water can lead to stiffness in the back, shoulders, wrists, and hips, while the repetitive motion of casting can create imbalances over time. Through breathwork, mindful movement, and targeted stretches, we'll explore ways to counteract strain, increase flexibility, and enhance overall endurance. Yoga also cultivates a calm, focused mind—helping anglers stay present and connected to the rhythm of the water. Interested in learning more? Let’s chat!
